Liliana believes that each client’s cultural context and identity shapes their worldview. She creates a safe space for clients to share their story and uses a strengths-based and culture-infused approach. Liliana helps clients to identify and maximize their strengths, develop clarity and optimism, make informed career decisions, and achieve their career and job search goals. As a bilingual, fluent in Spanish and English, and with a multicultural background, she approaches career counselling with an empathetic, non-judgmental, curious, and practical mindset.
Liliana has been working in the career development field for over eight years, providing support to diverse clientele at various stages in their careers. As a Career Development Specialist for international students at UCalgary, she has worked with thousands of international students of all levels (undergraduate, masters and PhD) and from all degree programs, to help them achieve career success. She has presented her expertise at many national conferences, and published articles in a national and an international magazine.
Liliana is a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists and a member of the Psychologists Association of Alberta. She holds a Master of Counselling Psychology degree, a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Visual Studies and Art History, and a Human Resource Management Certificate from the University of Calgary. She also completed a Career Educator Certificate Program through the Canadian Association of Career Educators and Employers and a Holistic Narrative Career Professional Training through OneLife Tools.
Liliana demonstrates a commitment to lifelong learning. Throughout the years, she has expanded her knowledge in a variety of areas and topics, including arts, science, business, humanities, diversity and inclusion, and intercultural communication amongst others. She also holds certificates in advanced sports and exercise nutrition, digital media design, and graphic design. Her drive to expand her knowledge helps her to counsel diverse clients holistically.
Liliana also provides personal counselling through our Synthesis Psychology practice (visit). Her areas of focus include: managing stress, life and cultural transitions, mindfulness, as well as supporting clients with communication, self-esteem, and confidence.
